Bystander to Upstander Workshop

Everyday Behaviour Project (EBP)

Understanding everyday behaviour & gender equality issues in Hong Kong's legal sector

The Everyday Behaviour Project Report (EBP) was published by Women In Law Hong Kong (WILHK) in 2023. It is sought to uncover behaviours that women in the Hong Kong legal industry have to deal with every day including gender biases and micro-aggressions: the everyday, subtle, often unintentional comments & interactions that, in aggregate, contribute to gender inequality.

In partnership with WILHK and with the generous sponsorship of White & Case, we have created a 2.5 hour highly engaging theatre-led workshop, drawing on key findings from the Everyday Behaviour Project.

The workshops consist of 3 custom scripted scenes performed by our professional actors, learning content & facilitated discussion focusing on developing psychological safety and intervention strategies that empower participants to become upstanding advocates of inclusive attitudes, mindsets and behaviours.
Women in Law Hong Kong (WILHK) was founded in 2015 by a group of passionate lawyers driven to address a stark disparity in the legal profession. At the time, women comprised 60% of trainee solicitors but only 21% of partners in Hong Kong, raising critical questions about career advancement and retention.

WILHK was established to take a solutions-based approach to promoting gender equity in the legal sector. Today, WILHK is one of Hong Kong’s largest legal networks, with over 1,500 members. They foster a dynamic exchange of ideas and actively collaborate with leading firms and institutions to drive meaningful change.

WILHK offers mentorship, make ally panels, access to senior female leaders through the Tone from the Top series, networking events, seminars, and publications on key issues.
